Who is the Love/Avon Army of Women
The Dr. Susan Love Research
Foundation and the Avon Foundation,
a global leader in breast cancer research, joined forces to launch the Love/Avon Army of Women on the Today Show in Oct 2008. The Army
of Women is enlisting healthy women
to partner with researchers (our goal
is ONE MILLION women) to move research from the lab to real women, and from investigating treatment and cure to seeking prevention by studying what happens before cancer occursand what causes it. In short, theyare inviting all women to be "one ina million" and help prevent breast cancer.
The Yoga Study Survivors...Relax, Release, Breathe...
Survivors know better than anyone
that cancer and cancer treatment are stresses that change the body, mind, and spirit. The researchers at the Ohio State University feel that yoga could be a way to begin the recovery process to heal all three.
If you are a breast cancer survivor in the Columbus, Ohio area, READ ON. If you know a friend who might be interested in this study, PASS IT ON.
What's the study about? Breast cancer survivors can have a lotof post-treatment problems, such as fatigue, depression, and a decrease in physical function. It is possible that physical activities, like yoga, couldhelp ease these symptoms. This is a study about how yoga affects fatigue, immune function, and mood of women treated for breast cancer.
What's involved?
If you join the Yoga for Breast Cancer Survivors Study, you will be assigned to one of two groups: yoga or wait-list. The yoga group will attend yoga sessions twice a week for 12 weeks. The wait-list group will have the opportunity to take yoga after the study participation is complete. In addition you will be asked to visit the Ohio State University 4 times over 6-10 months.
